The arts have always been my answer to “so what do we do about it?” What do we do about a world that is cruel and messed up, with a thousand problems, and people who are getting more and more detached from each other and ourselves everyday? The live arts help take you out of your own small perspective and put you in someone else’s shoes. They demand attention and feeling in a way that media can not. They can change a community.

I received my BFA in Musical Theater from East Carolina University where I was also trained in the Meisner technique. Since graduation, I have gotten to work as a part of a directors group in NYC called Tres Artis that explored ways that we can impact communities through the arts. I have helped develop new plays and musicals with emerging artists, taking them from a rough draft, through previews and producing initial performances in some cases. I have gotten to travel across the country learning from different theaters and professionals on how their regional theater have impacted their town. And now back in Asheville, I have gotten to re-immerse myself in this amazing artistic community and even gotten to explore experimental performance art through my work with Wicked Weed Brewing to make their bottle art work characters come to life at different beer events.

Favorite directing credits include Oklahoma(CRTC)The Little Mermaid(CRTC), and Over the River and Through the Woods(HART). Favorite roles include Drowsy Chaperone(The Drowsy Chaperone,ECU), Velma Von Tussle (Hairspray, CRTC), The Wicked Witch (Wizard of Oz, CRTC), and Jeanette Fisher (Last of the Red Hot Lovers, Festival35). I have also taught multiple workshops on acting, improvisation, and musical theater performance and believe that keeping younger generations excited about the performance arts is the only way theater will continue to tell its story.

I am passionate about immersive performance and giving to this community. This is just my beginning.
